Course Evaluations: Good And Getting Better
By John Sinclair
NACLAA takes its students very seriously, even more seriously than a business takes its customers. That's because NACLAA students are far more than mere customers -- they are valued stakeholders and important advisors in the course development and delivery process.
In what is becoming a NACLAA tradition, web-based course evaluations were made available for students a few weeks ago, just prior to final exams. The feedback we've been receiving is tremendously helpful -- and gratifying.
"All NACLAA courses are brand new and were developed with a national audience in mind. As these courses are being delivered for the first time this year there are bound to be some glitches," offered Government Studies' Acting Director Lorna Stefanick. "But when I see that how positive most of these evaluations are, it makes my day. We are on the right track."
Not that we're just looking for compliments. "We take comments and concerns very seriously" continued Stefanick, who personally pours over the evaluations as soon as they are submitted. "Our students are instrumental in pointing out areas of improvement. As soon as someone shows us something that could be done better, we're working on it, right on the spot."
"Our students' feedback is crucial in taking already great courses up to the next level of excellence. We couldn't do it without them, which is just another reason why, for us, our students will always be #1."
